Dimethyltin chromate and basic dimethyltin and diphenyltin carbonates have been isolated for the first time. Structural features of these compounds, as well as of the previously known basic dimethyltin chromate, have been investigated by examining their infrared, Raman, and Mössbauer spectra. Infrared, Raman, and Mössbauer spectra of [Me2Sn(NCS)]2O have also been examined, and by comparing its spectroscopic data with those for (Me2Sn)2OCrO4, (Me2Sn)2OCO3, and (Ph2Sn)2O(CO3), possible structures have been suggested for the latter compounds. From the combined infrared and Mössbauer data, a structure is also proposed for Me2SnCrO4. All compounds are indicated to have polymeric structures with bridging CrO42− or CO32−.

Anharmonic vibrational state calculations were performed for PtCO and Ar–PtCO via the direct vibrational configuration interaction (VCI) method to get insights into the anomalous effect of a solid argon matrix on the vibrational spectra of PtCO.

The preparation of some tetraalkylammonium-lithium-phthalocyanines is described. In contrast to the known dilithium-phthalocyanine these quarternary “onium”-salts are, dependent on the size of the alkyl groups, soluble in non-polar, aprotic solvents. The electronic spectra are investigated as a film on a quartz disk at 10 K. Under these conditions a large number of narrow bands is observed instead of the normally diffuse ones.Solid state resonance Raman spectra were studied at 85 K by a method involving spinning KBr disks. It is shown that nearly all the lines are as a rule very sensitive to excitation conditions. The vibrational spectra are compared with the structural features of the compounds.
