Selective epoxidation of the methoxy alkene mixture (IX) from oxidative decarboxylation of 12-methoxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-19-oic acid (I) provides a method of obtaining a high yield of the exocyclic alkene (VII) from the mixture. Isolation of the 3α,4α-epoxide (X) during the epoxidation allows the formation of C 3 oxygenated derivatives of 12- methoxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-19-oic acid. Methods for opening the epoxide ring of (X) and of the 4α,5α- and 4α,19-epoxides, (XI) and (XII), have been examined, and the structures of the products from rearrangement of each epoxide with boron trifluoride have been assigned.

AbstractIn this study, carbon based bimetallic materials (Pd-Ni/C) were synthesized by polyol method in order to increase the hydrogen peroxide reduction catalytic activity of Pd using Ni metal. Hydrogen peroxide reduction and sensing properties of the prepared catalysts were measured by electrochemical methods. As a result, we have established that the addition of Ni at different ratios to Pd has a considerable electrocatalytic effect on H2O2 reduction. This work provides a simple route for preparation of Pd-Ni catalysts to create a very active and sensible electrochemical sensor for H2O2 sensing.

Abstract A unique series of amide-scutellarin derivatives were designed and synthesized in order to develop the function of scutellarin further. The antiproliferative activity of all target compounds against two human leukaemia cell lines were evaluated. Among them, compounds 6g and 7c displayed the most antitumor activities against HL-60 and THP-1. Moreover, all compounds were also assayed for their neuroprotective activity against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced PC-12 cell injury, and the majority of the compounds had moderate to good neuroprotective properties. These findings confirmed that these target compounds could be used as anti-leukaemia and neuroprotective candicates in the future.

Abstract We have developed immunoassays, monitored by the detection of chemiluminescence, for measuring choriogonadotropin in human urine. These methods involve the use of derivatives of isoluminol and include: (a) a labeled antigen with a second antibody covalently linked to polyacrylamide beads as the solid-phase reagent (i.e., solid-phase chemiluminescence immunoassay); and (b) an excess concentration of a specific antibody passively adsorbed onto the walls of polystyrene tubes and a labeled antibody of different specificity (i.e., two-site immunochemiluminometric assay). After the respective binding reactions, the solutions are aspirated, the antigen- or antibody-bound fractions are washed twice with 500 microL of buffer, sodium hydroxide (2 mol/L; 200 microL) is added, and the mixture is incubated for 60 min at 60 degrees C. After cooling, the label is oxidized with microperoxidase/hydrogen peroxide and the resulting chemiluminescence signal is measured for 10 s. We have evaluated the methods in terms of their sensitivity, precision, and clinical utility, and we compare results with values obtained by radioimmunoassay.
