Conducting polymer has many applications in electronics, optical devices, sensors, and so on; however, there is still a massive scope of improvement in this area. Therefore, towards this aim, in this study, we synthesized a new thiophene-based conducting polymer, 2-heptadecyl-5-hexyl-6-(5-methylthiophen-2-yl)-4-(5-((E)-prop-1-enyl)thiophen-2-yl)-5H-pyrrolo[3,4-d]thiazole (HHMPT). Further, to increase its application, the interactions between the conducting polymer (HHMPT) and ionic liquids (ILs) were investigated by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, and confocal Raman spectroscopy techniques. Moreover, film roughness and conductivity of the polymer film with or without ILs were also studied. The imidazolium- and ammonium family ILs with the potential to interact with the newly synthesized conducting polymer were used. The results of the interaction studies revealed that the imidazolium family IL-polymer mixtures and ammonium family IL-polymer mixtures have almost similar conductivity at low concentration of ILs. This study provides an insight into the combined effect of a polymer and ILs and may generate many theoretical and experimental opportunities.

With an objective to fabricate Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) based sensors, the solution route is investigated. The dispersion routes are chosen here to avoid the CNTs to form bundles which can reduce their surface area. The results show that SWNTs-based gas sensors made by the surfactant method is possible if the annealing temperature is correctly chosen. The use of a surfactant allows preparing sensing layers which present responses to NO2 exposure in the 50-200 ppb Range. In a second procedure the CNTs are noncovalently functionalized and used as sensing material for BTX (Benzene, Toluene and Xylenes) detection. The noncovalent functionalisation occurs through p-p stacking between the SWNTs framework and the highly delocalized π-system of the macrocycle which are phthalocyanines and porphyrines derivatives. The SWNTs materials are characterized by standard techniques (UV-Vis spectroscopy, TGA, TEM, Raman analysis). For BTX detection, we used a double transduction mode: IDEs (Interdigitated electrodes) and QCM (Quartz Crystal Microbalance) in order to get insight into the sensing mechanism.

Three aqueous self-assembling poly(acrylate) networks have been designed to gain insight into the factors controlling the complexation and release of small molecules within them. These networks are formed between 8.8% 6A-(2-aminoethyl)amino-6A-deoxy-6A-β-cyclodextrin, β-CDen, randomly substituted poly(acrylate), PAAβ-CDen, and one of the 3.3% 1-(2-aminoethyl)amidoadamantyl, ADen, 3.0% 1-(6-aminohexyl)amidoadamantyl, ADhn, or 2.9% 1-(12-aminododecyl)amidoadamantyl, ADddn, randomly substituted poly(acrylate)s, PAAADen, PAAADhn and PAAADddn, respectively, such that the ratio of β-CDen to adamantyl substituents is ca. 3:1. The variation of the characteristics of the complexation of the dyes methyl red, methyl orange and ethyl orange in these three networks and by β-cyclodextrin, β-CD, and PAAβ-CDen alone provides insight into the factors affecting dye complexation. The rates of release of the dyes through a dialysis membrane from the three aqueous networks show a high dependence on host–guest complexation between the β-CDen substituents and the dyes as well as the structure and the viscosity of the network as shown by ITC, 1H NMR and UV–vis spectroscopy, and rheological studies. Such networks potentially form a basis for the design of controlled drug release systems.

We synthesized and characterized the ruthenium(III) pincer-type complex [RuCl3(H2Lt-Bu] (H2Lt- Bu = 2,6-bis(5-tert-butyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine, 1) by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry (MS) method ESI Q-TOF. For comparison reason, we also studied ruthenium(III) terpyridine complexes of the general formula [Ru(N-N-N)Cl3] where N-N-N = 4′-chloro- terpyridine (Cl-tpy; 2) or 4′-chlorophenyl-terpyridine (Cl-Ph-tpy; 3). Kinetic study of the substitution reactions of 1–3 with biomolecules showed that the rate constants depend on the properties of the spectator ligand and the nature of the entering nucleophile. To gain further insight into the reactivity of ruthenium complexes with potential biological targets, we examined the interactions of 1 – 3 with DNA and HSA. The DNA/HSA binding study showed that in comparison to complex 1 (bis– pyrazolylpyridine), the other two (2 and 3) terpyridine complexes had a slightly better binding affinity to calf thymus DNA (CT DNA), while in the case of human serum albumin (HSA), complex 1 exhibited the most strong quenching ability.

<div> <div> <div> <p>We report the synthesis and structural diversity of Zn(II) MOF with in situ formation of tetrazole ligand 3-ptz [3-ptz = 5-(3-pyridyl)tetrazolate], as a function pH. By varying the initial reaction pH, we obtain high-quality crystals of the non-centrosymmetric 3D MOF Zn(3-ptz)2, mixed phases involving the zinc-aqua complex [Zn(H2O)4(3-ptz)2]·4H2O, and 2D MOF crystals Zn(OH)(3-ptz) with a tunable micro-rod morphology, keeping reaction time, temperature and metal-ligand molar ratio constants. Structures are characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. We discuss the observed structural diversity in terms of the relative abundance of hydroxo-zinc species in solution for different values of pH. </p> </div> </div> </div>
