Abstract HCTN_12A phytochemical study of extracts of Uvaria boniana Fin. & Gagnep collected at Vũ Quang National park, Nghe An province leaves led to the isolation of five secondary metabolites, including uvaridacol G (1); 4-methyl-4-[(2Z)-3’-phenylprop-2’-en-1’-yl]cyclohex-2-en-1-one (2); 3,7- dimethoxy quercetin 4’- O- [α-L- rhamnopyranosyl-(12) -β-D- glucopyranoside (3); b-sitosterol (4) and stigmasterol (5). Their structure elucidation were determined on the basis of one and two-dimensional NMR and spectrometric methods in combination with molecular modeling. This is the first report on the chemical constituents of Vietnamese Uvaria boniana.

Fern is cosmopolitan plants which are almost scattered in all parts of the world, one of which is found in Baluran National Park and in Malang. The potential and benefits of these ferns are quite important for agriculture and medicine because of the chemical compounds they have, especially in Pteris vitatta L. This study aimed to analyze secondary metabolites contained in P. vittata L. in Baluran National Park, Situbondo and in Malang. The samples used were leaves and rhizome P. vittata extracted using methanol 96%, followed by a qualitative test of the content of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols, tannins, saponins, using phytochemical screening methods with several reagents. The results showed that the leaves and Rhizome P. vittata L.. in Baluran National Park, Situbondo were positively containing secondary metabolites of terpenoids, polyphenols, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids (Dragendorf and Bouchardat reagents), whereas flavonoids were not present in all samples. However, the results of P. vitatta L. phytochemical screening around Malang State University positively contained flavonoids, polyphenols, terpenoids, alkaloids (Wagner and Dragendorf reagents). The difference in results from these two places is because the secondary metabolite content in plants is affected by stressful environmental conditions such as soil texture where it is grown or is affected by the precursors of the secondary metabolites of the metabolites.

Phytosociological Study of Beech and Beech-Mixed Woods in Monti Sibillini National Park (Central Apennines, Italy)The results of a phytosociological survey of the woods mainly growing on limestones in the Southern part of the Marches Region (Central Italy), that is part of the Monti Sibillini National Park, are here presented. This area is characterized by a temperate climate (upper mesotemperate and lower/upper supratemperate bioclimatic belts). In order to study the vegetation, 173 phytosociological relevés were carried out through the Braun-Blanquet methodology. All the data obtained were submitted to multivariate analysis. The phytosociological analysis is characterized in nine associations, whereof three are of new description (Lathyro veneti-Fagetum sylvaticae hieracietosum murorum, Cardamino kitaibelii-Fagetum sylvaticae corallorhizetosum trifidaeandCardamino kitaibelii-Fagetum sylvaticae anemonetosum nemorosae).

Although the general ultrastructure of Cyanidium caldarium, an acidophilic, thermophilic alga of questionable taxonomic rank, has been extensively studied (see review of literature in reference 1), some peculiar ultrastructural features of the chloroplast of this alga have not been noted by other investigators.Cells were collected and prepared for thin sections at the Yellowstone National Park and were also grown in laboratory cultures (45-52°C; pH 2-5). Fixation (glutaraldehyde-osmium), dehydration (ethanol), and embedding (Epon 812) were accomplished by standard methods. Replicas of frozenfracture d- etched cells were obtained in a Balzers apparatus. In addition, cells were examined after disruption in a French Press.
