Forming dies are often costly for producers and the cost amount is influenced by production process too. If the die is manufactured by machining, proper strategies would necessary to consider as well. The right selection of adequate strategy helps production times shortening, tool wear reducing and those affect production effectiveness. Used strategies and its parameters are often compromise between acceptable surface quality and variations in shape aside, and production time on the other side. The paper presents the way of evaluation of milling strategy based on selected elements of forming die. This allows choosing the adequate strategy for particular shapes of die and also to evaluate them by the reached surface quality. Presented approach is verified by machining forging die cavity for production of connecting rod.

Taguchi method purpose to improve the quality of a product. This method can reduce the number of execution of the experiment when compared to using a full factorial method. measures taken, namely the calculation of degrees of freedom, the selection of orthogonal array to reduce the run, then calculating S/NR is used to determine the optimal composition of the factors that will affect the durability of asphalt. The results of this research that the optimal composition of the factors that affect the resistance of asphalt are aggregate of 6987.57 tons, temperature of 155? C, compaction speed 5 km/h, hardening time for 4 hours after paving before the opening of traffic at normal speed, thickness of 6.27 cm thick bitumen from the aggregate surface, body weight that is weighing 7 ton. Dimensions of factors is an area of ??5.598m.

A novel image matching algorithm based on both Taguchi method and spatial clustering is proposed to optimize the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) matching results. To improve the matching accuracy, adaptive spatial clustering is used. What is more, in order to get the fitting parameters to balance matching accuracy and quantity, Taguchi method is adopted to optimize the key parameter combination including the ratio threshold of Euclidean distance and the constrain parameters in the process of adaptive spatial clustering. Moreover, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) results are analyzed by variance to get the effect factor which is taken as the basis for the selection of optimized parameters. The optimum parameters combination is obtained eventually. The final experimental results show that the matching quality based on SIFT feature are improved significantly.

The paper presents an analysis of the selection of the regression function in the optimization of steel turning using Taguchi method. The study attempts to investigate cutting force and temperature during turning of steel. Taguchi L16 (4) 2 orthogonal array has been applied for experimental design. S/N ratio and ANOVA analyses were performed to identify significant parameters influencing cutting force and temperature. Mathematical models for both response parameters i.e. cutting force and temperature roughness were obtained through regression analysis. The confirmation experiments carried out at optimal combination of parameters given by Taguchi’s analysis. The optimal solution provided by desirability function optimization was compared with the optimal setting of parameters given by Taguchi analysis. The optimization results provided by both techniques are in close proximity.

Livestock producers can respond to increasing consumer demand for certain production process attributes by providing verifiable information on the practices used. Consumer willingness to pay data were used to inform producer decision-making regarding selection of verification entities for four key production process attributes in the production of pork chops and milk. The potential for informing farm-level decision-making with information about consumer demand for product and production process attributes exists beyond the two products assessed as example cases in this analysis.

The presented research activity is focused on the lightweight construction of a of truck wheel, with the final aim of improving the energy efficiency in compliance with current safety standards. On the basis of the design of a truck wheel currently into production, the objective of reducing the wheel mass is achieved by adopting high-strength materials, optimizing the geometry, and developing a new production process. The approach used for the new wheel design is based on the selection of a proper mission of the vehicle and on the acquisition of the loading spectra defined by using a new measuring wheel. The information obtained is used during the structural analysis phase. Based on the current production process, a number of suitable materials have been selected. Innovative manufacturing processes have been considered for improving the fatigue life of the wheel. Shot peening has been considered as a method to improve fatigue strength. Moreover, the introduction of laser cutting and welding led both to more freedom in the definition of the geometry of the wheel and to the reduction of the effects of geometric notches due to the absence of weld beads. A dedicated indoor test rig was used for durability tests. These activities led to a new truck wheel with reduced mass that is currently in the experimental validation phase.
