Chemistry is one of the scientific disciplines considered difficult for students to understand its microscopic and macroscopic concepts. Students also claim that this discipline is tedious and complicated. They are unable to connect what is shown in the visual structure to the process and phenomenon. In the context of self-motivation among university students, there is a higher chance of expanding the stimulation of learning. This study aimed to improve self-confidence and the mastery of concepts of chemistry teaching students using problem-based learning. The quasi-experimental method was used with the design of the non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group. The population included all students in the electrochemistry class at Lampung University in 2019. The purposeful sampling technique employed divided the sample into two groups. The first group was called Class A and was considered as the experimental class - using problem-based learning -. The second group, Class B, was recognized as the control class - using the conventional model in which the teacher applied the speech method in the delivery of materials during the class -. Class A's self-confidence and mastery of concepts have a higher nGain value than class B, and the result of the effect size is that class B has a more significant effect than class A. Based on the outcome, one can conclude that problem-based learning has a significant influence on improving self-confidence and mastery of concepts on the electrochemical theme.

Differences in The Improvement of Mathematical Communication Skill and Self Confidence between Students Who Get the Discovery Learning and Problem Based LearningAbstractThe low mathematical communication skills and Self Confidence of the students affect achievement in mathematics learning. It is worth the effort to improve communication skills and Self Confidence of the students one by using the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning. Research purposes to analyze the differences in the increase in mathematical communication skills and Self Confidence among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with the entire population of students of class X SMA Negeri 2 Garut. The sample in this study were two classes, namely X MIPA 1 as a class experiment 1 as many as 35 students who received Discovery model Learning and X MIPA 2 as a class experiment 2 a total of 33 students who received the model of Problem Based Learning. The research instrument used in the form of test descriptions and questionnaire scale Bandura. Based on the results of the analysis of statistically obtained the conclusion that there are differences in mathematical communication skills among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning as well as there are differences in the increase in Self Confidence among the students who get the model of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning.

This study aimed to determine the difference in the improvement of students' mathematical representation ability in problem-based learning (PBL) and regular learning as well as to determine the difference in the improvement of  students' self confidence in PBL and regular learning. In addition, to find out whether there was an interaction between learning and students'  early mathematical ability toward the improvement of students' mathematical representation ability and whether there was an interaction between learning and students' early mathematical ability toward  students' self confidence. The population was all students of SMP Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe. The sample was taken randomly as many as 2 classes which were consisted of 60 students. Data analysis was conducted by using Two way ANAVA. The conclusion were (1) the ability improvement of mathematical representation of students given a PBL model was higher than students given regular learning. (2) the improvement of students' self confidence given a PBL model was higher than students given regular learning. (3) There was no interaction between the learning model and students' early mathematical ability toward the improvement of students' mathematical representation skill. (4) There was no interaction between learning model and students' early methematical ability  toward the improvement of students' self confidence. Keywords: Problem based learning model, regular learning, mathematical representation, and self confidence.

AbstractThe involvement of elementary school students in the learning process still faces various problems. One of them is because the teacher still tends to be the center or the main actor. This classroom action research aims to improve learning outcomes and students' self-confidence in the thematic learning of energy materials through the application of problem-based learning strategies. The participants of this study were 17 elementary school students consisting of 6 boys and 11 girls. This classroom action research was carried out in two learning cycles. The data collection techniques used were observation and tests, where the data obtained were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that problem-based learning can improve student learning outcomes in terms of energy, self-confidence and activeness in the learning process.
