Ni-carbon nanotubes nanocomposite coatings were obtained from a Watts bath containing uniformly dispersed carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The surface morphology was investigated by the SEM images of coatings. The mechanical property and corrosion resistance of the nanocomposite coatings were investigated. This study revealed these CNTs reinforced Ni nanocoatings have improved mechanical and corrosion property.

Al/B composite is a new structural-functional integration material, which has a promising potential in future application due to their good combination of neutron shielding property and mechanical property. In order to obtain sintering process parameters of Al/B composite, the mold pressure, sintering temperature and the composition of powders were investigated and the physical properties of Al/B composite also systematically studied. In addition, the surface morphology of Al/B composite was analyzed. The experimental results indicate that the relative density will be higher when the mold pressure was bigger in appropriate pressure intervals, and when the mold pressure was more than 144MPa, the composites was difficult for molding because of the great internal stress. From the analysis of morphology, it shows that the best sinter temperature interval is 550-580°C. From the studies of composition of powders, it has been found that the percentage of Al affect the density and hardness. The density will be higher if the percentage of Al is higher.

Effect of partial substitution of Ni in the high Tc superconductor single crystals Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O has been studied. Single crystals of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu/Ni-O are grown from its stoichiometric melt. The addition of Nickel in this system ( Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2−x Ni x O y, x=0.1, 0.3) is found to change the growth temperature, superconducting transition temperature, surface morphology, and mechanical property.

The microstructure, microhardness and wear property of electroplated Ni–ZrO2 nanocomposite coatings with different ZrO2 concentration were analyzed using SEM, microhardness and wear tests. It was found that in the composite coatings, incorporation of ZrO2 particles improves the mechanical property of Ni coatings and the effect of ZrO2 nanoparticles concentration on the surface morphology, microstructure and mechanical property of electroplated coatings was discussed. The mechanical properties of Ni–ZrO2 coatings reach the optimum value when the ZrO2 concentration is 10 g/L.
