The mathematical model of a bubble cluster subjected to an acoustic field is investigated. In this model the cluster is considered as a large drop containing a liquid and a set of microbubbles. Areas of applicability of the mathematical model of the bubble cluster in the parameter space (α, R_0) are constructed, where α is the bubble concentration in the cluster; R_0 is the initial radius of the cluster.

The scaling law of bubble cluster collapse in cloud cavitating flow around a slender projectile is investigated in the present paper. The influence of compressibility is mainly discussed. Firstly the governing parameters are obtained by dimensional analysis, and the numerical method is established in order to verify the similarity law and obtain the influence of parameters based on a mixture approach with Singhal cavitation model. Moreover, the similarity law is validated by numerical simulations. Two main factors of compressibility of mixture fluid, including compressibility of non-condensable gas and phase change, are studied, respectively. Results indicated that the phase change has little influence on both flowing and collapse pressure. In the condition that the variation range of the mixture compressibility is small, the compressibility of non-condensable gas has notable impact the local collapse pressure peaks, however the macroscopic flow pattern does not change.

In order to study the bubble morphology, a novel experimental and numerical approach was implemented in this research focusing on the analysis of a transparent throttle valve made by Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) material. A feature-based algorithm was written using the MATLAB software, allowing the 2D detection and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of bubbles: collapsing and clustered ones. The valve core, being an important part of the throttle valve, was exposed to cavitation; hence, to distinguish it from the captured frames, the faster region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) algorithm was used to detect its morphology. Additionally, the main approach grouping the above listed techniques was implemented using an optimized virtual stereo vision arrangement of one camera and five plane mirrors. The results obtained during this study validated the robust algorithms and optimization applied.

This paper presents investigations on the new experimental setup for obtaining a compact cluster of monodisperse bubbles of a given diameter is presented. Also we provided the results of experimental study of the bubble cluster floating-up in the presence of a surfactant in a wide range of Reynolds numbers. There was held a comparison of the dynamics of the floating-up of a monodisperse bubble cluster in a glycerol medium and in the medium glycerin supplemented with a surfactant.
