This chapter deals with the coarse scale velocity. It begins the proof of Lemma (10.1) by choosing a double mollification for the velocity field. Here ∈ᵥ is taken to be as large as possible so that higher derivatives of velement are less costly, and each vsubscript Element has frequency smaller than λ‎ so elementv⁻¹ must be smaller than λ‎ in order of magnitude. Each derivative of vsubscript Element up to order L costs a factor of Ξ‎. The chapter proceeds by describing the basic building blocks of the construction, the choice of elementv and the parametrix expansion for the divergence equation.

Heterocyclic compounds are well known for their different biological activity. The heterocyclic analogs are the building blocks for synthesis of the pharmaceutical active compounds in the organic chemistry. These derivatives show various type of biological activity like anticancer, antiinflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-convulsant, anti-malarial, anti-hypertensive, etc. From the last decade research showed that the quinoline analogs plays a vital role in the development of newer medicinal active compounds for treating various type of disease. Quinoline reported for their antiviral, anticancer, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activity. This review will summarize the various synthetic approaches for synthesis of quinoline derivatives and to check their biological activity. Derivatives of quinoline moiety plays very important role in the development of various types of newer drugs and it can be used as lead compounds for future investigation in the field of drug discovery process.

Naphthalene-diimide (NDI) derived building blocks have been explored extensively for supramolecular assembly as they exhibit attractive photophysical properties, suitable for applications in organic optoelectronics. Core-substituted derivatives of the NDI chromophore (cNDI) differ significantly from the parent NDI dye in terms of optical and redox properties. Adequate molecular engineering opportunities and substitution-dependent tunable optoelectronic properties make cNDI derivatives highly promising candidates for supramolecular assembly and functional material. This short review discusses recent development in the area of functional supramolecular assemblies based on cNDIs and related molecules.

New approach to the preparation of steroids with connecting bridge, based on an O-carboxymethyloxime (CMO) structure, and with terminal hydroxy group, is presented. 17-CMO derivatives of 3β-acetoxy- and 3β-methoxymethoxyandrost-5-en-17-one were condensed with α,ω-amino alcohols to give derivatives with a chain of seven to nine atoms. After THP-protection, these compounds were converted to 3-keto-4-ene derivatives. An alternative synthesis consisted in transformation of 17-CMO derivatives with bonded amino acids by reduction of the terminal carboxyl. The resulting compounds were designed as building blocks for the preparation of bis-haptens for sandwich immunoassays.

We have proposed a method for the synthesis of previously unknown bromo xanthenes using the reagent PBr3/DMF as a rearrangement initiator. Bromo derivatives of xanthenes in the form of organic perchlorates were prepared by reacting the corresponding benzo(naphtho)dioxin-4(1)-ones with a three-fold excess of Vilsmeier-Haack PBr3/DMF reagent at 1100C for 2 hours, followed by the addition of sodium perchlorate. The conditions for the synthesis of formyl derivatives of xanthenes under conditions of acid hydrolysis were selected. The structure of the compounds was confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectral data and mass spectrometry. Preliminary studies showed that it is possible to selectively replace the dimethylamino group and the bromine atom with various nucleophiles in bromo derivatives of xanthenes, which opens up wide possibilities for the synthesis of low-molecular building blocks and dyes.

The modification of 2-azaanthraquinones with selected C1 building blocks gives a series of new imidazo-fused derivatives. Employing 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanopyrazine as cyclization partner a rearrangement to yield derivatives of benzo[f ]isoindole-4,9-dione takes place. The Sonogashira crosscoupling reaction of the aminalester derivative of the azaanthraquinone resulted in well soluble silyl substituted acetylenes as well as ethinyl aniline which allows further derivatization reactions.

4,6-O-Benzylidene acetal protected α-methoxy d-glucose and d-glucosamine are useful building blocks for the syntheses of carbohydrate derivatives and functional molecular assemblies. In this research, we have developed a general method for the preparation of C-3 carbamate derivatives of densely functionalized glucose and glucosamine with isocyanates using organic bases as catalysts. Without a suitable catalyst, the C-3 hydroxy group of the glucosamine derivative could not be converted into the corresponding carbamates when treated with isocyanates. Several organic bases were screened as the catalysts for the reactions, and we discovered that 5.0 mol% of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) was an effective catalyst for the carbamoylation reaction. A library of both alkyl and aryl carbamate derivatives of the two sterically congested carbohydrates have been effectively synthesized using the current method.

Diamondoids and their derivatives have found major applications as templates and as molecular building blocks in nanotechnology. An ab initio method we calculated the quantum conductance and the essential electronic properties of two lower diamondoids (adamantane and diamantane) and three of their important derivatives (amantadine, memantine and rimantadine). We also studies two artificial molecules that are built by substituting one hydrogen ion with one sodium ion in both adamantane and diamantane molecules. Most of our results are based on an infinite Au two-probe system constructed by ATK and VNL software, which comprise TRANSTA-C package. By changing various system structures and molecule orientations in linear Au and 2 × 2 Au probe systems, we found that although the conductance of adamantane and diamantane are very small, the derivatives of the lower diamondoids have considerable conductance at specific orientations and also showed interesting electronic properties. The quantum conductance of such molecules will change significantly by changing the orientations of the molecules, which approves that residues like nitrogen and sodium atoms have great effects on the conductance and electronic properties of single molecule. There are obvious peaks near Fermi energy in the transmission spectrums of artificial molecules, indicating the plateaus in I–V characteristics of such molecules.
