Controlled vinylogous carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions are useful options for providing the selective remote functionalization of conjugated carbonyl substrates. Remotely enolizable alkylidene heterocyclic and carbocyclic carbonyl compounds are pro-nucleophilic substrates that may be engaged in highly valuable chemical transformations.
