ABSTRACTThe charge transport properties critically depend on the degree of ordering of the chains in the solid state as well as on the density of chemical or structural defects. In general, goodelectronic performance requires strong electronic coupling between adjace nt molecules in the solid-state that yield strong intermolecular π-overlap. Herein, we newly designed and synthesized organic semiconducting materials having both aryl (Ar) and perfluoroaryl (FAr) as substituents for organic electronics along with molecular packing control. Regarding this molecular design, we hypothesized and expected that the Ar and FAr substituents would induce well-defined π-π stacking structure of charge transport units for high performance organic electronics devices.

ABSTRACTAnisotropie charge transport and magnetic properties have been investigated for single crystals of the layered manganite, La2–2xMn2O7 (0.3≤x≤0.5). Remarkable variations in the magnetic structure as well as in the charge-transport properties are observed with changing doping-level x. A crystal with x=0.3 behaves like a 2-dimensional ferromagnetic metal in the temperature region between ∼90 K and ∼270 K, and shows the interplane tunneling magnetoresistance at lower temperatures. These characteristic charge-transport properties are attributed to the interplane magnetic coupling between the adjacent MnO2 bilayers, and are strongly affected by the application of pressure as well as low magnetic fields through the change in magnetic structure. With increase of the carrier concentration toward x=0.5, the charge-ordered phase is stabilized and dominates the charge transport and magnetic properties.

ABSTRACTIn this present work we report the growth of Cd0.9Zn0.1Te doped with In by a modified THM technique. It has been demonstrated that by controlling the microscopically flat growth interface, the size distribution and concentration of Te inclusions can be drastically reduced in the as-grown ingots. This results in as-grown detector-grade CZT by the THM technique. The three-dimensional size distribution and concentrations of Te inclusions/precipitations were studied. The size distributions of the Te precipitations/inclusions were observed to be below the 10-μm range with the total concentration less than 105 cm-3. The relatively low value of Te inclusions/precipitations results in excellent charge transport properties of our as-grown samples. The (μτ)e values for different as-grown samples varied between 6-20 x10-3 cm2/V. The as-grown samples also showed fairly good detector response with resolution of ∼1.5%, 2.7% and about 3.8% at 662 keV for quasi-hemispherical geometry for detector volumes of 0.18 cm3, 1 cm3 and 4.2 cm3, respectively.

The ambipolar charge transport properties of a series of push–pull carbazole-based semiconductors are here evaluated. The ambipolar characteristics depend on the supramolecular organization. Experimental results were confirmed and justified through the X-ray analysis of single crystals and by theoretical calculations.
