Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the major influencing factors for the COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction with a six sigma framework model and to explore the successful deployment of six sigma in the health-care sector a case study on COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on a descriptive research design conducted in Chennai, India between May to July 2020 wherein 1,000 COVID 19 patients were studied. The convenience sampling method is used by the researcher for data collection. In this research paper, define-measure-analysis-improve-control methodology has been applied and factors such as assurance, process standardization, infrastructure, waiting time, cost were analyzed using quality function deployment (QFD), regression analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. Findings The applied six sigma model indicated that process standardization contributed the most toward the variation in COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction. Assurance by doctors is the second important factor. The interpersonal quality is important, which indicates a higher level of psychological needs in COVID 19 patients. Waiting time is another important factor influencing COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction. One of the unexpected findings is that cost is insignificant in influencing COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction. Originality/value Six Sigma focuses on process variation improvement that encourages data analysis and problem-solving statistical techniques and evaluates the ability of a process to perform defect-free. Six sigma focused toward COVID 19 patients’ satisfaction has not been carried out, which this paper has done.

Abstract Extracellular matrix (ECM) is a complex structure composed of bioactive molecules representative of the specific local tissue microenvironment. Decellularized ECM biomaterials harness these biomolecules for regenerative medicine applications. One potential therapeutic application is the use of vocal fold (VF) specific ECM to restore the VFs after injury. ECM scaffolds are derived through a process of decellularization, which aims to remove unwanted immunogenic biomolecules (e.g., DNA) while preserving the composition of the ECM. The effectiveness of the decellularization is typically assessed at the end by quantifying ECM attributes such as final dsDNA content. However, batch-to-batch variability in ECM manufacturing remains a significant challenge for the process standardization, cost-effectiveness, and scale-up. The limited number of tools available for in-process control heavily restricts the uncovering of the correlations between decellularization process parameters and ECM attributes. In this study, we developed a technique applicable to both the classical batch method and semi-continuous decellularization system to trace the decellularization of two laryngeal tissues in real-time. We hypothesize that monitoring the bioreactor's effluent absorbance at 260 nm as a function of time will provide a representative DNA release profile from the tissue and thus allowing for process optimization. The DNA release profiles were obtained for laryngeal tissues and were successfully used to optimize the derivation of VF lamina propria-ECM (auVF-ECM) hydrogels. This hydrogel had comparable rheological properties to commonly used biomaterials to treat VF injuries. Also, the auVF-ECM hydrogel promoted the down-regulation of CCR7 by THP-1 macrophages upon lipopolysaccharide stimulation in vitro suggesting some anti-inflammatory properties. The results show that absorbance profiles are a good representation of DNA removal during the decellularization process thus providing an important tool to optimize future protocols.

The successful implementation of push-pull supply chain management strategy has an important role in improving the competitiveness of an organization. The objective of a push-pull strategy is to minimize the holding of inventory level in finished form and rather produce finished goods from semi-finished inventory only upon receiving final order. One of the vital building blocks of push-pull supply chain strategy is postponement. The main objective of this review paper is to discuss the concept of postponement and its sub-categories such as product postponement and process postponement and their benefits. Then it is investigated how two prominent fast fashion retailers who are also categorized as original brand manufacturers in the apparel value chain apply the two variants of process postponement e.g. process standardization and process re-sequencing in their manufacturing operations to activate push pull supply chain strategy. The push-pull supply chain strategy in turn helps to reduce their order-to-delivery lead time to stores, reduce inventory holding level and minimize both physical costs and market mediation costs. The paper ends with concluding remarks. A framework is developed to illustrate the push-pull supply mechanism. This paper is a useful resource for practitioners in apparel supply chain willing to remove inefficiencies, costs and risks in their operations.

From 2008´s to 2010’s a serious financial crisis forced many sectors to drastically review their production and sales plans. Sectors like the chemical industry were reorganized to deal with the challenging scenario found. The presence of Business Intelligence architecture does not mean that the organization really enjoys the best that this architecture brings. The push of Business Intelligence architecture usage was very important during this critical crisis moment to help on process standardization, data quality improvement and process automation. This article's objective is to demonstrate how the world crisis of 2008, 2009 and 2010 was a great opportunity to improve the usage of business intelligence architecture bringing benefits for a Brazilian chemistry industry.

Traditional medicines have been used since the beginning of human life on earth. Traditional medicines form a part of the household not only in India but also in western countries. According to WHO, traditional medicines are those extracts from plants which are of medicinal value. Around 80% of the world's population relies on traditional medicines for medicinal purposes or as neutraceuticals. There is a well-established procedure for conducting clinical trials of western medicine, but when in the case of traditional medicines, there are several obstacles in the path. Where traditional medicines are the oldest form of medicines used by human's specific issues like lack of infrastructure, lack of sponsors and lack of skilled manpower hinders the clinical trial process for traditional medicines. The articles focus on various issues for conducting clinical trials and the steps taken by the government to address these issues. Centres like the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences are working rigorously to research traditional medicine to establish safety and efficacious data at par with modern medicines. Standardization of the collected raw material, in-process standardization and quality control check of the final product will further help in reducing the harmful adverse effects.

ABSTRACT Analysis of a strategic planning framework, proposed by Edward Zielinski, focused on reducing operational costs in Facility Management (FM) through using long-term best practices in capital investment. This paper indicates how that framework may assist in the FM decision process of capital investment allocation. The framework structure is integrated through: (1) alignment of FM decisions to the organizational strategy; (2) measuring FM performance with a data-driven approach; and (3) standardization of budgeting processes as support for FM credibility. The authors use a Structured Literature Review to investigate how previous research of the topic and subtopics supports the framework's objectives. Emphasis on referenced case studies aims to investigate the applicability of this framework by FM practitioners. The framework is fully applicable to FM operations. The case study analysis suggests it is a powerful tool for supporting capital investment decisions in organizations. Benefits foreseen include: value creation through alignment of FM decisions to organizational goals, risk control in short-, mid- and long-term FM decisions, creation of structured procedures for FM data acquisition supporting stakeholders' decisions, increased FM credibility through budgeting process standardization, improvement of FM operations efficiency, and senior management awareness of FM priorities. This paper encourages FM practitioners to structure their daily operations by addressing the three most challenging aspects of this profession: understand the client, capitalize valuable knowledge, and secure funding.
