Mengyejing potash deposit lies in brown-red and variedness salting-in nagelfluh formation of Cenozoic Mengyejing formation which is located at the back-foreland basin of Lanping-Simao bidirectional arc zone, and it is one of the few large-scale solid potash deposits in China. By integrated study systematically, Mengyejing Potash Deposit’s different scales of mineralization geological anomalies information:geological, geophysical, geochemical, and salt spring chemistry and remote sensing were extracted. A comprehensive information prospecting model of Mengyejing potash deposit is established. Tentatively identified deposits prospecting model of Mengyejing formation, negative gravity anomaly, salt spring chemical anomaly and geochemical anomalies as the core and is of a positive significance for this type of deposit’s prospecting.

SummaryIt is shown that owing to the “battery” effect the spatial nonuniform helium distribution in Ap stars causes a toroidal magnetic field of about 103- 104gauss. Possible circulation of stellar matter in this field produce a poloidal magnetic field of the same order as the toroidal one even if the velocities of circulation are about 10-4-10-5cm/s. The chemical anomaly in turn is supported and amplified by the magnetic field. It is pointed out that the “battery” effect is likely to take place in the liquid core of the earth and in components of close binaries if they are nonuniformly heated by their companions.

In recent years, small particles have attracted the attentions of by some researchers for their physical and chemical anomaly as well as technological application to ceramics and catalyst industries. For these studies, morphological investigations on small particles seem to be important. HREM methods are the most direct approach to obtain particle crystal structures at atomic level resolution. This talk reviews some of the works on small particle research that have been done as a part of the fine particle research project by Japanese Research development Corporation (fully government-supported project). Among the many TEM observations on small particles that have been done, some specific problems using Si particles are presented.Small particle production Small particles of Si were prepared by a gasevaporation method which utilizes the evaporation and condensation of Si vapors in an Ar gas at 300Torr. The Si vapors were obtained by heating Si rods by an arc discharge1.

AbstractSeismological findings show a complex scenario of plume upwellings from a deep thermo-chemical anomaly (superplume) beneath the East African Rift System (EARS). It is unclear if these geophysical observations represent a true picture of the superplume and its influence on magmatism along the EARS. Thus, it is essential to find a geochemical tracer to establish where upwellings are connected to the deep-seated thermo-chemical anomaly. Here we identify a unique non-volatile superplume isotopic signature (‘C’) in the youngest (after 10 Ma) phase of widespread EARS rift-related magmatism where it extends into the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. This is the first sound evidence that the superplume influences the EARS far from the low seismic velocities in the magma-rich northern half. Our finding shows for the first time that superplume mantle exists beneath the rift the length of Africa from the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean offshore southern Mozambique.
